Olde Richmond

Olde Richmond is a neighborhood in the River Wards section of Philadelphia.

The area is known historically for its large Irish and Polish population.

The neighborhood is bounded by East Lehigh Avenue to the northeast, the Delaware River to the east, Trenton Avenue to the northwest and York Street to the southwest. The area is easily accessible through SEPTA as well as local transportation.

In recent years there has been and increase in bike lanes.

Bicycle lanes easily connect Olde Richmond to nearby neighborhoods, such as Fishtown and Port Richmond, as well as connect to major roadways, such as Delaware Avenue and Frankford Avenue.

Once predominantly a daytime destination, Rittenhouse Square is now a popular nightspot as well, with a string of restaurants — including Rouge, Devon, Parc and Barclay Prime — that have sprouted up along the east side of the park on 18th Street.

Rittenhouse Square is easily accessible with two train stations nearby. Suburban Station and Amtrak’s 30th Street Station are a short walk or cab ride away from any neighborhood point. Septa bus stops are located throughout the neighborhood.
