Love City Brewing is embarking on the first expansion in its nearly 8-year history.
The Philadelphia brewery is opening a taproom at 4323 Main St. in Manayunk. It will occupy the space previously home to Fat Lady Brewing, which announced via social media last week that it had closed after more than four years in operation.
Love City Manayunk, the name for the new taproom, is expected to open in the spring.
Love City Brewing is owned by husband-and-wife-duo Melissa and Kevin Walter. The couple opened the brewery’s flagship at 1023 Hamilton St. in Callowhill in 2018.
Today, Love City distributes to more than 200 bars and restaurants. It produced around 2,960 barrels of beer in 2025.

Melissa Walter, who is also Love City’s director of operations, said the brewery had been looking for the right expansion opportunity for a long time.
“We were very conscious about choosing a neighborhood that has great energy and foot traffic, as well as one that would allow our current location at 1023 Hamilton St to continue to be successful – Manayunk checks all those boxes for us,” Walter said in a statement.
Love City Manayunk will offer the same beers that it sells at its flagship brewery, such as its namesake Love City Lager and Unity IPA, along with cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. The taproom plans to announce its food offerings for at a later date.
Love City Manayunk will span 5,884 square feet across two stories. The first floor will be the brewery’s primary taproom, offering a full bar and a retail area. It will have a capacity of approximately 75 people.

The second floor will serve as Love City Manayunk’s events space, hosting private parties as well as live music concerts, local vendor markets and other special activations. Melissa Walter said Love City will continue some of the popular events previously hosted at Fat Lady Brewing.
Its upstairs event space will have a capacity of approximately 60 people.

Love City Manayunk’s design aims to blend industrial elements of the space with mid-century and antique touches. The brewery will feature communal seating, exposed brick, wrought-iron beams, ivy and other greenery, colorful art by Philadelphia’s True Hand Society, and several large TVs for broadcasting sports games.
The brewery will be open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. to midnight, Saturday from noon to midnight, and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.
Love City will look to hire roughly eight people to staff its Manayunk taproom.
MPN Realty’s Nadia Bilynsky, Alexandra Charen, and Veronica Blum of MPN procured Love City as the tenant.
